Shake — Content & Moderation Policy

Effective: May 7, 2026
Contact: hmu@quasimatt.com

Shake is a place for people who meet in person to keep a record of that connection. We have a low tolerance for content or behavior that makes the app feel unsafe. This page explains what's not allowed, how to report it, and what we'll do about it.

What's not allowed

Don't post, share, or do any of the following on Shake:

How to report someone

Open the profile of the user you want to report and tap the menu in the top right. Choose Report @username, pick a reason (Spam, Harassment, Inappropriate Content, Impersonation, Other), and optionally add detail. The report is sent to us immediately.

From the same menu, you can also Block the user. Blocking is immediate, doesn't require our review, and removes the other user from your feed, leaderboards, graph, and connection list. They can't see you either.

You don't need to report and block — you can do either or both. If the behavior is severe, we recommend reporting in addition to blocking, so we can act on it across the platform.

What we'll do

We commit to reviewing every report within 24 hours of submission. After review, we take one of three actions:

If the same user has been reported by multiple people, we account for that when deciding the action. A first-time minor offense and a pattern of harassment are not treated the same way.

Mistakes and appeals

If you believe your account was banned in error, email hmu@quasimatt.com within 30 days of the ban with your username and a brief explanation. We can restore the account during the 30-day window. After 30 days the account and all associated content are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

Law enforcement

We cooperate with valid legal requests from law enforcement. We proactively report content that sexualizes minors to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and to law enforcement, as required by U.S. federal law.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app and its community evolve. Material changes will be reflected by an updated effective date at the top of this page.
